The Manchester airport is ready to receive thousands of passengers from the largest airliner in the world, Airbus A380.

From the first of September, the Emirates Airline will host its airbus A380, at the Manchester Airport, making it the first regional base in the world.

The arrival of the Emirates’ 517-seat aircraft at the Manchester airport will be the first time to be operated at a regional airport. The airbus also serves several other worlds’ biggest international airports such as Sydney, Paris, Dubai and London Heathrow.

“In the growing network of regional gateways, Manchester has been one of the strongest performers, not only in the UK but globally as well,” said the Emirates Airline President Tim Clark.

“When the other airlines, at a time, are calling off, our customers value our commitment to a regional network. We are elated to provide the best to the customers of Manchester, in the form of the Emirates Airbus A380.”

By replacing the Boeing 777 on the EK018, the airbus will leave Manchester to Dubai at 13.30 daily and onward destinations.

The services of Manchester will increase its ability by extra 75 seats a day, while bringing in the Dubai-based international carrier’s award-winning First Class cabin.

The Airline President has also added that “it is a well merited boost for our loyal and increasing customer base in the North West and this stands as a ground breaking for the airport and its global position.”

Manchester Airport, after spotting a surge in drivers evading the parking charges, has decided to put up spy cameras in its car parking spaces that help checking the number plates of the vehicles.

In just one hour, there were 27 drivers spotted tailgating behind other vehicles to get under the barrier. Some of the passengers who are on holiday are even leaving their vehicles for up to a fortnight and are nagging out to avoid the parking fee charged at £27 a day.

The airport has joined with the Parking Eye, a car park enforcement agency to begin the crackdown from the next month. The airport has earlier recorded more than £51m in the car parking charges in 2008-2009.

The cameras will take into notice each and every car entering and leaving the parking lot and if any driver is caught dodging the fees, will be sent notices for paying a fine of £90 which will rise to £120 if not paid within 18 days. In case if anyone fails to pay, they will be pursued through the courts.

A source from the airport said that “this project will help in spotting those drivers who are cheating the system while providing the legitimate customers with the best parking facilities ensuring consistent parking charges without hiking the prices for all. Its aim is to prevent the drivers who park their cars and leave without paying the tariffs at the car parking lots but it is not meant to punish the customers. These new procedures are only for the rogue drivers.”
